Kwara Government Moves to Upgrade Aviation College to Aerospace University.

The Kwara State Government has welcomed a visiting panel from the Federal Ministry of Aviation to assess the proposed conversion of the International Aviation College, Ilorin, into a full-fledged Aerospace University.
During a meeting at the Ministry’s Conference Hall in Ilorin, the State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Mary Arinde, highlighted the administration’s commitment to advancing education, particularly in specialized fields that contribute to national development. She emphasized that upgrading the Aviation College to an Aerospace University is a significant step toward positioning Nigeria as a key player in the global aviation and aerospace industry, given the college’s strong foundation in training world-class pilots and aviation professionals.
Dr. Arinde assured the visiting team of the State Government’s full support for the transition. In response, the team lead from the Federal Ministry of Aviation, Mallam Lawal Ibrahim, praised the state’s vision and investment in education, assuring a fair assessment of the institution. The Rector of the Aviation College, Captain Okatahi Yakubu, also expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his foresight in pushing for this upgrade, recognizing the positive impact it would have on aviation education in the region.
