Kwara Government Mandates Staff Registration with KWASRRA
The Kwara State Government has directed all local government staff under its payroll to register with the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWASRRA). The exercise will take place across the 16 Local Government Council Secretariats.
In a statement issued by Alhaji Umar Danladi Shero, Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Local Government Service Commission and Local Government Pension Board, the initiative was described as a vital step toward obtaining accurate staff data and gathering essential information to inform effective policy formulation.
“This exercise is not designed to target or penalize any officer,” Shero emphasized, adding that adequate arrangements have been made to ensure a seamless process. A circular has been sent to all local councils to inform staff about the registration.
However, Shero warned that staff who fail to participate will be deemed illegitimate employees of the council. The state government’s new policy of “No Registration, No Salary and Bonus” will be strictly enforced for non-compliance.
“This is an opportunity for every legitimate staff member to ensure their details are accurately documented,” he stated.
The registration exercise reflects the government’s broader efforts to promote transparency and accountability in the local government service.
