Kwara Government Approves Re-Accreditation of Pharmacy Departments in State Hospitals

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the re-accreditation of pharmacy departments in state hospitals by the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board (KW-HMB), allowing them to serve as internship training centers for graduate pharmacists.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, confirmed that seven pharmacy departments have secured accreditation from the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) after a rigorous inspection process.
This marks a revival of the pharmacist internship program in Kwara, which had been inactive for two decades. Malik assured that all facilities met the required standards before approval and emphasized that the achievement is a major boost to the state’s healthcare sector.
The board remains committed to monitoring the accredited centers to ensure continued improvements in healthcare delivery, while efforts are also underway to secure accreditation for intern nurses and medical laboratory scientists. Some of the accredited facilities include General Hospital Patigi, General Hospital Offa, Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH), Civil Service Hospital, Aisha Buhari Mother and Child Hospital, Sobi Specialist Hospital, Children’s Specialist Hospital, and the Kwara State Essential Drugs Project.
