Kwara Government Approves Free Transport for Returning Undergraduates
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara has approved the provision of free transport for students returning to Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, and the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) after the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The state’s Commissioner for Business Innovation and Technology, Damilola Yusuf, announced this in a statement to newsmen in Ilorin on Monday. Yusuf revealed that the move was aimed at alleviating the financial burden on students, especially in the face of rising transportation costs.
The free bus service will be available to all registered students of KWASU and UNILORIN returning to their campuses. The buses will be stationed at key locations in Ilorin, including Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Taiwo Park, and Soludero Park near the Post Office.
“This initiative is part of the state government’s ongoing commitment to support the educational pursuits of its citizens,” Yusuf stated, emphasizing the governor’s dedication to making education more accessible and reducing the economic challenges faced by students.
The Commissioner encouraged returning students to take advantage of this service and ensure they report to their campuses promptly.
“This is a special measure specifically put in place for the students,” Yusuf added, stressing the importance of the initiative in easing the transportation challenges for students during the holiday period.
