Kwara Government Announces January Environmental Sanitation Exercise

The Kwara State Government has announced that the Monthly Environmental Sanitation exercise for January 2025 will take place on Saturday, January 25, between 7:00 am and 10:00 am.
In a statement released by the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Shakirat Muritala, residents across the state are urged to fully participate in the exercise by cleaning their residential and business environments.
The government has emphasized that during the sanitation hours, there will be a total restriction on vehicular and human movement across the state.
To ensure smooth execution of the exercise, waste management trucks will be deployed for the collection and proper disposal of refuse at government-approved dump sites.
The statement further warned residents against illegal dumping of waste, stating, “It is an offence punishable under the environmental law to dump refuse on pedestrian walkways, roadsides, drainages, canals, and other unapproved dump sites.”
Additionally, the government cautioned against any attempts to obstruct officials during the exercise, noting that such actions would be met with appropriate legal measures.
Residents are encouraged to comply with the guidelines to promote a cleaner and healthier environment across Kwara State.
