Kwara Fire Service Averts Tanker Explosion on Ilorin–Jebba Expressway

April 17, 2025

A swift response from the Kwara State Fire Service on Wednesday, April 16th prevented a potential tanker fire following an accident along the Ilorin–Jebba Expressway at Shao Junction, where a 45,000-litre diesel tanker collided head-on with a stationary truck as the impact damaged the tanker’s air system, causing brake failure as ongoing road construction forced all vehicles onto a single lane, complicating traffic flow. Furthermore, the Firefighters quickly secured the scene by wetting it to prevent ignition, and the diesel was safely loaded into another tanker with support from the Nigeria Police and other security agencies, who helped maintain order and safety throughout the operation.
