Kogi Assembly Launches Statewide Tree Planting to Tackle Climate Change

The Kogi State House of Assembly has launched a statewide tree planting campaign to combat climate change and promote environmental sustainability. The initiative, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Umar Yusuf underscores the Assembly’s commitment to reversing deforestation, encouraging ecological responsibility, and ensuring a safer environment for future generations. The campaign includes enforcement of existing anti-deforestation laws and is supported by the ACReSAL project, which empowers farmers with economic tree species to aid land reclamation and food security. It will be implemented across all local government areas with broad community and institutional participation.
