Kano State Fire Service Reports ₦132.45 Million in Property Losses in November Fire Outbreaks

December 4, 2024

The Kano State Fire Service has revealed that property worth over ₦132,450,000 was destroyed in various fire incidents across the state during November 2024. Despite the losses, the agency successfully rescued three individuals and saved property valued at ₦310,600,000.

Saminu Abdullahi, the spokesperson for the service, provided a breakdown of their operations, which included 43 fire calls, five rescue operations, and six false alarms received from 29 fire stations across the state. Tragically, three lives were lost in the incidents, while four others were saved.

Abdullahi highlighted the heightened risks during the harmattan season, urging residents to exercise caution in handling fire and ensuring safety measures to prevent incidents.

“I will use this opportunity to draw the attention of the general public to handle fire with care to avoid fire incidences, especially during the current harmattan season,” he said.

He also appealed to motorists to drive cautiously and comply with traffic laws, particularly during the Christmas holiday period, to minimize road accidents.

The service continues to emphasize public awareness and preparedness to reduce the frequency and impact of fire outbreaks and other emergencies in Kano State.
