JAMB Warns Candidates Against Desperate Selection of Exam Towns

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cautioned candidates sitting for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) against making desperate choices when selecting examination towns.
JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin clarified that the board does not assign towns for candidates but allows them to choose based on availability, particularly for the optional mock examination, where 90% of slots nationwide have already been filled.
The remaining slots are available in Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, and Yobe. Candidates were urged to make informed choices, considering travel logistics and convenience, rather than later blaming JAMB for being assigned to distant locations. The board emphasized that once a town reaches its capacity, it will no longer be available for selection and stressed that the mock exam is designed to help candidates familiarize themselves with the Computer-Based Test (CBT) environment while also allowing JAMB to test its facilities.
