Jada Pollock Opens Up About Being Labeled ‘Wizkid’s Baby Mama’
Talent manager Jada Pollock, who is expecting her third child with Grammy-winning singer Wizkid, has spoken out against being reduced to the label of “Wizkid’s baby mama.”
In an interview with BET UK, Pollock expressed frustration over how her identity and achievements are often overshadowed by her personal relationship with the Afrobeat star.
Pollock recounted an instance following Wizkid’s Grammy win when she issued a statement celebrating the global rise of Afrobeat. Despite her professional input, blogs described her as “Wizkid’s baby mama,” sidelining her contributions to the industry.
“When Wizkid won a Grammy, I wrote a statement about how far Afrobeat has come. They put the statement out, and the caption was ‘Wizkid baby mama,’” Pollock said.
She highlighted how such narratives diminish her accomplishments, failing to recognize her as a hardworking entrepreneur and manager who has been instrumental in building Wizkid’s global legacy.
“I’m not only a mother but also a manager, and I’ve helped build a legacy,” she asserted.
Pollock’s career spans over a decade, managing high-profile artists and contributing significantly to Wizkid’s rise as one of the leading figures in Afrobeat. She continues to advocate for a narrative that reflects the multifaceted roles women play in both their personal and professional lives.
Her comments have reignited discussions around the stereotypes and dismissive labels often placed on women, particularly those in relationships with prominent figures, highlighting the need to recognize their independent achievements.
