INEC Begins Distribution of Election Materials Ahead of Ondo Governorship Poll
The Ondo State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun distributing non-sensitive election materials in preparation for the November 16 off-cycle governorship election.
During a media briefing in Akure, Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oluwatoyin Babalola announced that a significant portion of the required materials has already been received and distributed to all 18 local government areas in the state.
She emphasized that these materials are securely stored, with the commission collaborating closely with security agencies to ensure their protection as she outlined that the non-sensitive materials will be organized into Registration Areas (RAs) and polling units, with final dispatch planned for the eve of the election.
Furthermore, Babalola assured the public that every vote will count and that security agencies are working alongside INEC to ensure a smooth and credible electoral process.
The commissioner also provided an update on voter registration, revealing that the total number of registered voters in Ondo State is now 2,053,061, following a harmonization of new and previous registrations. This figure includes 1,034,006 male voters and 1,019,055 female voters, with youths representing 35.41% of the registered population.
Furthermore, Babalola assured the public that every vote will count and that security agencies are working alongside INEC to ensure a smooth and credible electoral process. She confirmed that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be utilized in all 3,933 polling units across the state to facilitate a transparent voting experience.
