Imo State Police Commissioner Orders Arrest of Officers for Extorting Motorists
Aboki Danjuma, the Commissioner of Police in Imo State, has directed the arrest of officers featured in a viral video clip that shows them extorting money from motorists.
The police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, shared this information via his X account, responding to public outrage following the video’s circulation.
He confirmed that Aboki Danjuma, the Commissioner of Police in Imo State has ordered the immediate arrest of the officers and their team seen in the footage and also instructed the Command’s Complaint Response Unit and Provost Department to ensure that the officers face strict disciplinary actions.
Furthermore, Henry Okoye emphasized that the police command maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward extortion, assuring the public that appropriate sanctions would be enforced.
Public reactions to the incident have included widespread condemnation of the officers’ actions. Okoye pledged to personally identify the involved officers and provide updates to the community, reinforcing the police’s commitment to accountability.
