Ilorin Court Jails Tricycle Operator, Accomplice for Phone Theft

A magistrates’ court in Ilorin, Kwara State, has sentenced a tricycle operator, Jamiu Nurudeen, to five years in prison and his accomplice, Rafiu Adebayo, to two years for stealing phones from passengers, including a lawyer. The duo, arrested during a police patrol along Taiwo Oke, were found in possession of three stolen phones belonging to Barrister Mohammud Adeniyi, Ahmed Abdulmumeen, and Ojolowo Raufu. Charged with criminal conspiracy and theft under the Penal Code, they pleaded guilty, and Magistrate Florence Shaaba delivered the judgment without an option of fine.
