ID Cabasa Refutes Akon’s Claim of Creating Afrobeats
Veteran Nigerian music producer, ID Cabasa, has dismissed Akon’s claim that he helped create Afrobeats, saying the genre is a cultural movement that can’t be credited to one person. Speaking during a recent interview, Cabasa acknowledged Akon’s collaborations with Nigerian artists but insisted that stars like 2Face, 9ice, and Timaya had already made waves before Akon’s involvement, adding that it was Banky W, not Akon, who discovered and signed Wizkid.
