House of Representatives Confirms Olufemi Oluyede as New Chief of Army Staff
The House of Representatives has confirmed Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede as the substantive Chief of Army Staff.
This decision followed his screening by the Joint Committees on Defence and Army, which took place on Wednesday, November 27th.
During Thursday’s plenary, the Chairman of the Joint Committees, Babajimi Benson, presented the report and recommended Oluyede for confirmation as he highlighted the General’s qualifications and readiness for the role.
The confirmation motion was put to a vote and approved by the lawmakers during the session, which was presided over by Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu. With this confirmation, Lieutenant-General Oluyede will now assume the position of Chief of Army Staff, taking on the responsibility of leading Nigeria’s Army.
