Hollywood Icon Dalyce Curry Dies in Los Angeles Wildfires at 95

Retired Hollywood actress Dalyce Curry, celebrated for her roles in The Blues Brothers, The Ten Commandments, and Lady Sings the Blues, has died in the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. She was 95 years old.
Authorities confirmed Curry’s remains were discovered at her burned-down property in Altadena, California, as reported by Forbes on Monday.
Her great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, revealed that Curry was last seen on the evening of January 7 when she dropped her off at home. When Kelley attempted to check on her the following morning, she was unable to pass police barricades in the area. The family searched for Curry at the Pasadena Civic Centre, a shelter set up for displaced residents, but she was not found.
Days later, officials confirmed that Curry’s remains had been identified at her destroyed residence.
“About an hour ago, the coroner confirmed her remains were indeed found at the property. #RIPMOMMADEE,” Kelley wrote on Facebook on January 12. “We had a great run. She impacted my life in so many ways. This loss is devastating.”
Curry’s granddaughter, Loree Beamer-Wilkinson, described her as “very active” despite her age, saying, “You would not think she was 95.”
Curry’s tragic death is among at least 24 fatalities reported in the Los Angeles area as a result of the wildfires, which have also displaced thousands of residents and caused widespread destruction.
