Heavy Rains Trigger Deadly Floods in Northern China, Four Dead, Thousands Evacuated
Four people have died and eight others remain missing after heavy rains triggered a landslide in Luanping County, Hebei Province, northern China. Authorities on Monday say communications are down in the affected rural areas, complicating rescue efforts. Thousands have been evacuated in Hebei, Beijing, and Tianjin amid rising floodwaters, with Beijing’s Miyun District recording its highest reservoir level since 1951. The central government has deployed emergency teams and released 50 million yuan in relief funds to support affected regions.
