Governor Umo Eno Dissolves Akwa Ibom Cabinet, Announces Fresh Appointments
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has announced the dissolution of his cabinet, stating that the decision was made to bring in new individuals to strengthen the government. During a valedictory session in the Exco chamber, Eno clarified that the move was not due to any underperformance by the outgoing commissioners. He expressed satisfaction with their work, acknowledging that all of them had delivered on their responsibilities, contributing to the success of the Arise Agenda.
Despite the commissioners’ positive performance, Eno emphasized the need for a fresh set of professionals to continue moving the state forward. He noted that transitions like these are a natural part of governance, marking the end of one season and the beginning of another. Eno expressed his gratitude to the outgoing officials for their service and affirmed that their replacements would bring new energy and ideas to the administration.
In recognition of their contributions, the governor announced that a valedictory dinner would be held at the Banquet Hall in Government House, Uyo, to honor the departing members of the cabinet. The event is set to celebrate their dedication and efforts throughout their tenure. Many of the outgoing commissioners had served in various capacities for nearly a decade, with some even continuing from the administration of former Governor Udom Emmanuel.
The commissioners and advisers were retained under Governor Eno’s administration, in part to compensate them for their years of service, particularly as they had not been formally rewarded following the conclusion of the previous administration in May 2023. This decision highlights the governor’s commitment to recognizing the hard work of those who contributed to the state’s progress.
