Governor Bago Calls for North Central Security Committee to Tackle Insecurity

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has called for the creation of a North Central Security Committee to tackle the region’s worsening security situation, emphasizing the urgent need for collaboration between the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and state governments. Speaking at the inauguration of the North Central zonal office of the Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) in Minna, Bago highlighted the link between insecurity and the spread of illicit arms. The North Central zonal office of the Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons Director General, Johnson Babatunde Kokuma, said the new office would enhance intelligence gathering and inter-agency cooperation, while governors of other North Central states pledged their support for coordinated efforts against illegal weapons.
