Governor Aiyedatiwa, Abiodun Sign 2025 Budgets into Law
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and his Ogun State counterpart, Dapo Abiodun, have signed their respective 2025 Appropriation Bills into law, marking significant steps toward implementing ambitious fiscal plans aimed at development and growth.
In Ondo State, Aiyedatiwa approved a revised budget of ₦698.659 billion, an increase of ₦43.429 billion from the initial ₦655.230 billion proposed. Dubbed the “Budget of Recovery,” it allocates ₦433 billion (62.06%) for capital expenditure and ₦265 billion (37.94%) for recurrent expenditure.
During the signing ceremony in Akure, Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the budget reflects his administration’s commitment to revitalizing the state’s economy and addressing socio-economic challenges. He highlighted the focus on infrastructure renewal, agriculture, education, healthcare, and social welfare as investments in the lives of residents.
“This budget demonstrates our collective vision for a better future for Ondo State,” he said. “It is designed to jumpstart the economy and make life easier for our people.”
The Governor assured that the budget would be accessible on the state’s budget portal from January 1, 2025, for transparency and compliance.
Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, commended Aiyedatiwa’s dedication to advancing critical sectors, noting the upward revision as a reflection of the administration’s responsiveness to the state’s growing needs.
In Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun signed a ₦1.054 trillion budget into law during a ceremony in Abeokuta attended by senior government officials and legislators.
Abiodun announced plans to partner with private firms for projects like the Olokola Sea Port and renewable energy initiatives. He highlighted the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, including arterial roads and improved educational and healthcare facilities.
“We will focus on providing infrastructure and creating opportunities to boost the state’s economy,” Abiodun stated. He emphasized the importance of agriculture, pledging to expand Ogun’s role in animal husbandry for domestic consumption and export.
Acknowledging challenges posed by federal economic reforms, Abiodun praised the resilience of Ogun residents and highlighted state efforts to provide palliatives to mitigate the impact of the policies.
Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, applauded the governor’s proactive leadership and commended the Assembly for passing the budget swiftly. He affirmed the Assembly’s commitment to collaborating with the executive to deliver the dividends of democracy.
