Governor Abdulrazaq Visits Key Legacy Projects in Kwara, Focuses on Economic Growth

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq visited several of his administration’s legacy projects on Tuesday, including the highly anticipated Innovation Hub, which is nearing completion ahead of its public unveiling.

 

The Governor explained that the primary objective of these projects is to build a new ecosystem that positions Kwara as a key destination in Nigeria.

 

He emphasized that these projects are aimed at fostering an economy that benefits the people and elevates the state’s profile. The Governor addressed media inquiries about the significant investments in various projects such as the garment factory, international conference center, visual arts center, film factory, and a shea butter factory, highlighting their role in creating a thriving state.

 

In his remarks, the Governor emphasized the importance of making Kwara a hub for various sectors, including entertainment, tourism, healthcare, and conferencing. He outlined plans to make Kwara a top destination by improving its infrastructure and services. Additionally, Governor Abdulrazaq spoke about the state’s ambitions to further revitalize its economy by attracting more visitors and improving connectivity.

 

 

Abdulrazaq also visited the civil service clinic, which is undergoing major reconstruction as part of the state’s effort to strengthen its healthcare system. He explained that the rebuilding of the clinic is a step towards improving healthcare delivery at the secondary level, complementing ongoing efforts to enhance primary healthcare. The Governor also outlined plans to convert key hospitals, such as Ilorin General Hospital, Sobi Specialist Hospital, and Omu-Aran Hospital, into university teaching hospitals, further solidifying Kwara’s healthcare infrastructure.

 

In his remarks, the Governor emphasized the importance of making Kwara a hub for various sectors, including entertainment, tourism, healthcare, and conferencing. He outlined plans to make Kwara a top destination by improving its infrastructure and services. One of the key initiatives is the completion of the Innovation Hub, which is expected to attract significant investment and foster technological growth in the state. The Governor shared that the state is partnering with organizations like IHS for the project, which is worth over 10 billion naira, with plans to invest billions more over the next decade.

 

Looking ahead, Governor Abdulrazaq spoke about the state’s ambitions to further revitalize its economy by attracting more visitors and improving connectivity. He mentioned plans to increase the number of flights at the Kwara Airport and reestablish the state’s prominence, much like during the first republic. The Governor expressed confidence that the ongoing projects, including the Innovation Hub, would contribute significantly to Kwara’s growth, aiming to have five unicorns within the next ten years. He promised that the Innovation Hub would set a new standard for Africa, bringing major companies to Kwara.
