Governor Abdulrazaq Swears in New Local Government Chairpersons in Kwara State
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State swore in the newly elected chairpersons and vice chairpersons of the 16 local government areas on Monday, September 23.
In a ceremony held at the Government House in Ilorin, the governor urged the new council chiefs to be prudent with their power and to collaborate with the community for the benefit of all as he extended his congratulations to the chairpersons, their families, and everyone involved in their election.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by key figures, including the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, Chief Judge Ayodele Adebara, and other principal officers, as well as various government officials and party elders.
Abdulrazaq also acknowledged the current economic challenges facing the country, urging the newly sworn-in officials to be sensitive to the struggles of the people and encouraged them to avoid self-indulgence during this time of reform and to focus on serving their constituents effectively. He called for creativity and cooperation among local government areas to achieve greater accomplishments.
Prince Sunday Fagbemi, the APC chairman, praised the residents of Kwara for their support and commended the governor for his commitment to public welfare. He expressed optimism about the future, stating that the newly elected officials have the opportunity to build on the foundation laid for the state’s development. Majeed Bolakale Podo, the Ilorin South chairman, echoed this sentiment, vowing to work diligently for the benefit of the people.
