Gov Abdulrazaq Highlights Achievements as IEDPU Supports Urban Renewal Projects
Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has showcased the achievements of his administration while pledging support for ongoing developmental projects initiated by the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU). The Governor made these remarks during the 59th IEDPU National Conference held at the Emir’s forecourt in Ilorin on Wednesday.
Abdulrazaq praised the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the IEDPU leadership, and stakeholders for their contributions toward peace, harmony, and the progress of the Ilorin Emirate.
Transforming the Landscape
The Governor highlighted the strides made under his administration’s urban renewal initiative, which includes upgrading key roads and initiating economic projects aimed at enhancing prosperity across the state.
“Yes, we are proudly transforming the landscape of Ilorin. From Sulu-Gambari Road to Oja Oba, Balogun Fulani to Gambari, Ibrahim Taiwo Road to General Roundabout, and many others, Ilorin now stands shoulder to shoulder with leading capital cities in our country,” Abdulrazaq said.
He noted that the initiative is expanding beyond Ilorin, with projects such as the massive reconstruction of Ibrahim Taiwo Road in Offa and the Ilorin Smart City project, which involves building 250 housing units in its first phase.
Support for IEDPU Projects
The Governor pledged his administration’s support for the completion of IEDPU’s innovation hub project, which aims to provide young people with skills and opportunities for upward social mobility.
“We have made provisions for the takeoff of the Kwara State University of Education, Ilorin, in 2025. Along with other projects, this opens a new frontier for socioeconomic growth,” he added.
IEDPU Commends Development Efforts
IEDPU President Abdulmumin Ayo AbdulMalik expressed gratitude for the state government’s urban renewal initiatives and called for additional investments in infrastructure, including roads, schools, and healthcare centers.
“The completed and ongoing projects will completely change the face of not only Ilorin, the state capital, but also the entirety of Kwara State,” AbdulMalik stated.
He also requested the government’s assistance in equipping the Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari Skills Acquisition Hub, emphasizing the need for computers and proper fittings.
Dignitaries Laud Governor’s Efforts
Prof. Oba, who chaired the event, commended Abdulrazaq for his commitment to peace, social protection, and infrastructural development, while urging the government to focus more on empowerment programs for women and vulnerable groups.
At the event, Amb. Yahya Seriki, the chief launcher, donated N100 million toward IEDPU projects, further underscoring community support for the Governor’s initiatives.
A Call for Continued Unity
Governor Abdulrazaq concluded by emphasizing the importance of community unity and collaboration, urging stakeholders to remain supportive of the administration’s vision for a prosperous Kwara State.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including national and state parliamentarians, local government officials, and captains of industry, demonstrating broad support for the administration’s developmental agenda.
