Former Super Eagles midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju Confident Osimhen Will Surpass Yekini’s Super Eagles Goal Record

November 20, 2024

Former Super Eagles midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju, has expressed confidence that Victor Osimhen has the ability to break the team’s all-time top scorer record.

The record is currently held by the late Rashidi Yekini, who scored 37 goals for Nigeria. Osimhen, with his impressive performances, is now joint-second on the list, having recently leveled with the legendary Segun Odegbami, who also scored 23 goals for the national team.

Adepoju, who was part of the Super Eagles during Yekini’s era, has praised Osimhen’s commitment and work ethic, believing these qualities make it very possible for him to achieve this.

He highlighted that Osimhen always gives his all when representing Nigeria, which further boosts his chances of surpassing Yekini’s record.
