Former South Korean President Moon Jae-in Indicted on Bribery Charges

South Korean prosecutors have indicted former President Moon Jae-in on bribery charges, alleging that a budget airline provided his son-in-law with a lucrative no-show job during Moon’s presidency. The Jeonju District Prosecutors’ Office says Moon received over 217 million won in indirect benefits through financial support given to his then-son-in-law between 2018 and 2020. Though investigators found no evidence that Moon granted political favors in return, Lee, who worked on Moon’s campaign, has also been indicted. The development adds Moon to a long line of South Korean leaders entangled in post-office scandals.
