Former Manchester United Youth Coach Jonathan Hill Eyes Super Eagles Job
Former Manchester United youth coach Jonathan Hill has expressed interest in managing Nigeria’s senior national football team, the Super Eagles. Hill, who recently parted ways with Rotherham United as an assistant coach, has formally submitted his application to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The Super Eagles, currently led by interim coach Augustine Eguavoen, recently secured qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. However, the NFF remains keen on appointing a foreign coach to lead the team to greater heights.
Speaking to Sports Boom, Hill highlighted his admiration for Nigerian football and the potential of the team.
“This is a role I very much fancy because of its demanding nature and the push to deliver top results,” he said. “I’ve always known Nigerian players to be athletic, technical, and full of energy. There’s a great talent pool here, and I believe in nurturing young players who fit the team’s philosophy.”
Hill brings extensive coaching experience, having worked with Manchester United’s youth setup and other clubs in England. His expertise in player development aligns with the NFF’s vision of building a competitive team that integrates homegrown talents with established international stars.
The NFF is expected to review applications and make an official announcement on the Super Eagles’ coaching position in the coming weeks. Fans and pundits alike are eager to see who will take charge as Nigeria prepares for the upcoming continental competition.
