Former FIFA and UEFA Chiefs Win Second Legal Battle Over Fraud Charges

Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter and former UEFA president Michel Platini have been acquitted of fraud for the second time by the Swiss Criminal Court. The two were accused of misappropriating over 2 million dollars of FIFA funds in 2011, but they consistently denied any wrongdoing. The case, which emerged in 2015, derailed Platini’s bid for the FIFA presidency and marked the downfall of both football figures. Despite being cleared twice, Blatter’s legacy remains linked to FIFA’s corruption scandals, while Platini never achieved his ambition of leading world football’s governing body.
