March 4, 2025

Nigeria’s U17 girls, the Flamingos, will travel to South Africa on Wednesday for the first leg of their FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa’s Bantwana. The match, officiated by Kenyan referees, will take place on Saturday, March 8, at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria. Head Coach Bankole Olowookere has selected 19 players, including key names like Christiana Uzoma, Harmony Chidi, and Chisom Nwachukwu. While Nigeria advanced to the second round by bye, Bantwana dominated Gabon with a 21-2 aggregate win. The return leg is set for March 15 at Remo Stars Stadium, with the aggregate winner moving to the third qualification round. The FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, featuring 24 teams, will be held in Morocco from October 17 to November 8, with Africa represented by five teams, including the host nation.
