Five Kidnapped in Odo-Eku: Police ,Vigilantes Launch Rescue Operation

A kidnapping gang has abducted five people, including a woman, her daughter, a visitor, and two men, from the Odo-Eku community in Isin Local Council, Kwara State.
The incident occurred around midnight on Tuesday when the assailants stormed the village while residents were asleep as they fired shots into the air, creating panic and causing people to flee for safety. In the chaos, the five victims were taken hostage.
Sources revealed that the kidnappers fled into the surrounding countryside on Wednesday, prompting local vigilantes, hunters, and security forces to mobilize in an effort to track down the criminals and rescue the abductees. The community leader, Odofin of Odo-Eku, Elder Ogundeji, confirmed the incident, stating that the victims were Hausa farmers from the area. Among the abducted were a woman, her daughter, a visitor, and two men.
The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the attack, which took place at around 1:15 a.m. on January 15. Police spokesperson Toun Ejire-Adeyemi stated that the victims, consisting of two males and three females, were taken to an undisclosed location. The police, along with vigilante groups, have been deployed to rescue the victims and ensure their safe return.
Ejire-Adeyemi assured the public that efforts were underway to secure the release of the abducted individuals and promised to provide further updates as the situation develops. The police and local security forces are working together to bring the perpetrators to justice and end the reign of terror in the community.
