First Lady Reaffirms Commitment to Tackling Food Insecurity Nationwide

Nigeria’s First Lady, senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to tackling food insecurity and supporting vulnerable populations through the Renewed Hope Initiative’s (RHI) Food Outreach Scheme, which began in March 2024 and has so far reached eleven states and the FCT. Represented by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, at a Renewed Hope Initiative event in Umuahia, Abia State, she oversaw the distribution of food supplies and announced upcoming initiatives under Renewed Hope Initiative’s five core pillars including environmental clubs, business grants for persons with disabilities, and menstrual hygiene support for rural schoolgirls. The program which is funded by the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative and an anonymous donor, is set to expand to more states, with leaders like Governor Alex Otti and his wife expressing strong support for its impact on local communities.
