FIBA Announces AfroBasket 2025 Draw Date in Luanda, Angola

March 13, 2025

The FIBA Regional Office for Africa has confirmed that the official draw for the FIBA AfroBasket 2025 will be held on April 19 in Luanda, Angola, five months ahead of the tournament. Set to take place from August 12 to 24, this edition marks Angola’s fourth time hosting the competition. The 16 participating nations include hosts Angola, defending champions Tunisia, and strong contenders like Nigeria, Senegal, Egypt, and Côte d’Ivoire. Nigeria’s D’Tigers, aiming to reclaim the title they last won in 2015, are expected to revamp their squad with key players from the NBA and European leagues. With preparations underway, the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) is set to unveil a training camp schedule to build a formidable team for the championship.
