Federal High Court Judge Recuses Himself from Senator’s Legal Battle

Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has stepped down from the case involving suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan after Senate President Godswill Akpabio questioned his impartiality in a petition. Initially, the judge had issued an interim order halting disciplinary actions against the senator, ruling that due process must be followed. However, despite the court’s decision, the Senate Committee proceeded with her six-month suspension as the case will now be reassigned to another judge by the Chief Judge, while Akpabio’s legal team challenges the court’s authority to intervene in Senate matters.
