Federal government to Launch E-Visa System from May 1, 2025

The Federal Ministries of Aviation and Aerospace Development, and Interior, have announced the implementation of a new Immigration Protocol starting May 1, 2025, aimed at streamlining visa issuance and enhancing airport security in Nigeria. As part of the initiative, the government will launch an electronic visa (E-Visa) system allowing travelers to apply online, supported by a centralized approval center in Abuja. The reforms also include automated aircraft landing procedures, an exit card system, and improved background checks using global databases like Interpol as both ministries pledged to remove bureaucratic hurdles and ensure secure yet accessible entry into Nigeria through coordinated efforts by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority and the Nigerian Immigration Service.
