Federal Government Reaffirms President Tinubu’s Commitment to Enhancing Nigerians’ Well-being

January 2, 2025

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to improving the well-being of Nigerians, emphasizing the government’s dedication to providing more democracy dividends.

Akume made the statement during a thanksgiving service in honor of Mathias Byuan, the Executive Director of Housing, Finance and Account at the Federal Housing Authority. The event, held on Wednesday at Agidi, Ugambe, Shangev Tiev, in the Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, gathered key political figures and community leaders.

Akume highlighted the ongoing infrastructure projects spearheaded by the Tinubu administration, particularly focusing on the dualization of the Makurdi/Ninth Mile road, among others. He urged the youth in the state to resist being manipulated by political elites and to hold their leaders accountable for the use of public resources. “The present administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to the well-being of Nigerians,” Akume stated, stressing that the government’s projects were funded by the commonwealth of the people and should be executed transparently.

The former Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, also spoke at the event, commending Akume as a respected leader and benefactor. He acknowledged the contributions of Benue sons and daughters in the current administration and thanked President Tinubu for appointing them to key positions.

Ortom further praised Byuan for his determination and humility, sharing a similar background with the celebrant. He also expressed his gratitude to Jacob Gyado, the Chairman of the occasion, for his support in the development of Benue and his unwavering commitment to the success of the Tinubu-led government.

In his remarks, Byuan pledged his loyalty to both President Tinubu and Akume, emphasizing the substantial resources allocated to Benue State by the current administration. He called on Governor Alia’s administration to live up to its responsibilities by ensuring the delivery of democracy dividends to the people of the state. Byuan also launched the Mathias Byuan Community Empowerment Foundation, which aims to support the less privileged in the region.

Bishop Isaac Dugu of the Katsina-Ala Diocese, who delivered the homily, encouraged Christians to embrace love and sustained prayer within their families, highlighting the power of prayer over violence and conflict. He urged the congregation to pray for strong, capable mothers to lead their homes, stressing the importance of faith in overcoming challenges.
