Federal Government Reaffirms Commitment to ‘Decade of Gas’ Under Renewed Hope Agenda

The Federal Government has reiterated the need for innovation and regional collaboration to prevent stranded gas in Nigeria, as concerns grow over Africa’s inadequate gas pipeline infrastructure.
At the Africa Gas Innovation Summit 2025 in Abuja, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, emphasized the importance of coordinated strategies and shared infrastructure to unlock the continent’s gas potential. He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the “Decade of Gas” initiative and highlighted key projects like the Nigeria-Morocco and Trans-Saharan pipelines. Additionally, Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea signed a joint communiqué to implement the Gulf of Guinea Gas Pipeline Project, establishing committees to oversee gas supply and development, to boost regional energy integration and economic cooperation.
