Federal Government Pledges Continued Efforts to Boost Agricultural Sector for Better Food Security says Minister of Agriculture
The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving food security with the launch of new initiatives designed to boost agricultural productivity and mechanization across the country.
During an interview on Channel Television’s Sunrise Daily Show, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Abdullahi, discussed the government’s ongoing efforts to tackle the challenges facing the agricultural sector.
Abdullahi emphasized that food security has become a top priority under the Tinubu-led administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He pointed out that ensuring food security is crucial not only for providing adequate nutrition to Nigerians but also for driving economic growth, alleviating poverty, and promoting gender inclusivity in the country.
The Minister acknowledged the significant work required to address the country’s food security challenges, noting that the agricultural system had been in a poor state. He referenced the state of emergency on food security declared by President Tinubu last year, highlighting the government’s recognition of the urgent need for reform in the sector.
Under the Renewed Hope Agenda, Abdullahi stressed that food security is now a central focus of Nigeria’s economic strategy. He stated that the agricultural sector is expected to play a critical role in poverty alleviation and fostering gender inclusivity, ultimately contributing to the country’s economic development.
