Federal Government Partners Japan to Boost Rice Seed Production

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening food security and improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers through enhanced rice seed production. The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, stated this during a meeting with the Japan International Cooperation Agency Nigeria Office delegation in Abuja. The Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency Nigeria Office, Yuzurio Susumu, explained that the project is designed to improve rice seed multiplication and quality control in Oyo and Niger States. The minister assured that the Federal Government will work closely with the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria and other stakeholders to ensure timely implementation.
