Federal Government Orders Immediate Reopening of Independence Bridge.
The Federal Government, through the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has ordered the immediate reopening of the Independence Bridge in Lagos to vehicular traffic following its earlier closure for maintenance. In a statement signed by the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Engr. Olukorede Kesha, the ministry, expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and assured the public that palliative works were ongoing to improve the bridge’s condition. The Federal Ministry of Works also confirmed that full repair works would be carried out at a later date.
