Federal Government Declares Holidays for Christmas, New Year Celebrations
The Federal Government has announced public holidays to celebrate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year. Wednesday, December 25; Thursday, December 26, 2024; and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, have been declared work-free days across the country.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, on Monday.
In his message to Nigerians, Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to embrace the spirit of the season, which he described as a time for love, peace, and unity.
“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” he stated.
The minister also called for strengthened familial and community relationships to promote harmony and contribute to national development.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to peace and prosperity, Tunji-Ojo expressed optimism about the nation’s progress under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he believes will propel Nigeria toward a more prosperous 2025.
Nigerians are encouraged to use the holidays to foster unity and reflect on the importance of collective effort in achieving national goals.
