Federal Government Calls for Ethical Guidelines in AI-Driven Journalism
The Federal Government has emphasized the need for ethical guidelines to regulate the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Nigerian journalism, particularly in light of its potential to impact press freedom. During the 2025 World Press Freedom Day training, Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, represented by Dr. Suleman Haruna, highlighted the importance of balancing AI’s transformative potential with legal safeguards to protect journalistic integrity and transparency. Furthermore, He also stressed the need for journalist training on AI tools and the development of a national policy framework for Artificial Intelligence in the media.
