Farotimi Slams Tinubu’s Benue Visit, Calls it Insensitive to Victims’ Plight

Human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Benue State, describing it as insensitive and lacking genuine empathy for victims of ongoing herdsmen attacks. Farotimi argued that the visit, marked by a red-carpet reception, felt more like a political spectacle than a response to a humanitarian crisis that has left over 200 people dead and thousands displaced. He praised the Tor Tiv, James Ayatse, for being the only voice that addressed the grim reality of the killings, which have drawn both national and international condemnation, including from Pope Leo XIV.
