FAAN Confirms Safe Evacuation of Passengers After Aircraft Skids at Abuja Airport
Five persons have been safely evacuated without sustaining any injuries when an Allied Air Cargo aircraft skidded off Runway 22 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, leading to a temporary closure of the airport.
FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, stated that the Airport Emergency Response Team was immediately deployed to the scene, along with accident investigators as the organization expressed its gratitude to the aviation community and the public for their patience and understanding during the disruption.
Mrs. Orah also requested that speculation surrounding the incident be suspended until the preliminary report is released by the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).
Meanwhile, the evacuated passengers were taken to the FAAN clinic for medical checks, as a precaution to ensure their well-being following the incident as aviation stakeholders are closely monitoring the situation, and efforts are underway to restore normal airport operations.
