Ex-Governor, Yahaya Bello Denies Threatening President Tinubu, Calls Claims “Senseless” and “Mischievous”
Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has strongly denied reports that he threatened President Bola Tinubu, calling the claims “senseless” and “mischievous.” The statement was made through his media office on Monday, following a controversial report published by an online platform, Daily Excessive, which allegedly quoted Bello as saying he would expose how Tinubu became president.
Bello’s spokesperson, Ohiare Michael, condemned the report as baseless and irresponsible, adding that it was part of a broader political effort to damage the relationship between the former governor and the president. “This is not only a ridiculous story written by a sick mind but also a desperate attempt by irresponsible politicians to cause division,” the statement said.
The media office emphasized that the publication’s claims were false and pointed out that any court proceedings involving Bello, particularly those with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), are public records. It highlighted that no trial had started, and Bello had merely pleaded in court.
The statement also dismissed the report as an attempt to mislead the public and target Bello’s reputation. It further affirmed the former governor’s continued support for President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), underscoring his commitment to the party’s objectives.
