Ex-Governor Fayemi Urges APC Stakeholders in Ekiti to Unite Behind Governor Oyebanji’s Re-election
Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the former Governor of Ekiti State, has cautioned some stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state against forming any caucus that doesn’t align with the party’s constitution.
He emphasized the importance of unity and the need for members to work in harmony towards the success of the party as he recalled his pivotal role in ensuring the election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in 2022, despite opposition from certain factions within the party, who are now calling for his re-election.
Meanwhile, he criticized these individuals for attempting to create division and benefit from any discord between him and his successor.
The former governor further clarified that any attempt to form a leadership caucus outside the constitutional framework of the APC would not be recognized as official. He described such groups as mere mobilization efforts that are not harmful but cannot claim legitimacy within the party structure. He stressed that the party’s direction and leadership must adhere to its constitution, and any activities outside this framework would not be supported.
