Emir of Ilorin Urges Politicians to Prioritize Truth and Public Welfare
The Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has urged Nigerian politicians to be truthful and understand the needs of the people, emphasizing the importance of direct engagement. During a visit from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) delegation led by its 2023 presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, he commended the party’s approach to grassroots politics as he criticized the Tinubu administration for failing in security and socioeconomic development, lamenting widespread poverty, unemployment, and lawlessness, particularly in Rivers State. He further condemned the unconstitutional removal of elected officials in the state, stressing that political leaders must prioritize the people’s welfare and uphold democratic principles.
