Eight Injured as Commercial Bus Crashes into Median on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway
Eight people were injured when a ‘ commercial bus lost control and crashed into the road median at Ahmadiya, along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.
The incident occurred as the driver attempted to avoid colliding with pedestrians at a bus stop and another commercial bus as the driver reportedly lost control while speeding as the accident left several passengers with varying degrees of injury. Among the injured were the bus driver, who sustained a fractured left arm, and seven others, including five males and three females.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) led a coordinated rescue effort, ensuring that the victims received immediate medical attention as the injured passengers were promptly transported to the General Hospital at Ile-Epo by LASAMBUS medical personnel.
Additionally, LASTMA emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic regulations, particularly speed limits, to prevent accidents. The authority also called on commercial vehicle operators to ensure regular vehicle maintenance, particularly on critical safety systems like brakes, to prevent such accidents as they reiterated their commitment to enhancing road safety in Lagos and its ongoing collaboration with emergency agencies to safeguard lives
