An Edo State High Court in Benin City has sentenced 11 internet fraudsters to various jail terms for offenses related to obtaining by false pretense, advance fee fraud, and possession of fraudulent documents.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stated that Justice W.I. Aziegbemhin convicted the individuals after they pleaded guilty to separate one-count charges. The convicts, apprehended in a sting operation, were sentenced to two or three years imprisonment, with some given the option of fines ranging from N200,000 to N400,000. They also forfeited phones, laptops, and funds in their bank accounts to the federal government and committed in writing to good behaviour.
