EdoDecides2024: Governor-elect Okpebholo Pledges to Advance Oshiomhole’s Work
The Governor-elect of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has expressed his commitment to elevate the South-South state to new heights upon taking office.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared him the winner of the recent governorship election, where he represented the All Progressives Congress (APC). Okpebholo secured a total of 291,667 votes, defeating Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 247,274 votes, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party, who finished with 22,761 votes.
Following his victory, Okpebholo addressed reporters, expressing gratitude to the people of Edo for their support and trust in him as their future governor. He emphasized the significance of their choice in electing the right leader for the next four years, highlighting his commitment to the state’s development.
He outlined his vision for Edo, stating his intention to build upon the accomplishments of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole and to draw inspiration from the governance of Senate President Godswill Akpabio in Akwa Ibom State. Okpebholo aims to initiate transformative changes in Edo, emphasizing his determination to foster growth and development in the region.
Okpebholo conveyed his enthusiasm for the mandate given to him, declaring that the “new Edo is rising.” He reassured citizens that he is ready to take decisive actions for the betterment of the state and is confident that, with divine guidance, Edo will experience a renewed transformation.
