Dutch Police Arrest Three After Deadly Explosion in The Hague
Dutch police have arrested three individuals in connection with an explosion that killed six people and injured four in an apartment building in The Hague.
The blast, which occurred on Saturday, December,7 led to the collapse of the apartment building and caused significant damage to several neighbouring structures in the residential area as the authorities have launched a criminal investigation to determine the cause of the explosion, although no further details have been provided regarding the arrests.
The police have also confiscated several cars about the incident, though it remains unclear whether any of the vehicles were the same vehicles that witnesses reported seeing speeding away from the scene just before the explosion occurred.
Rescue teams suspended their search for victims on Monday afternoon, shortly after they discovered the sixth and final body in the rubble as emergency crews had been combing through the debris working to locate survivors, but the search was eventually called off as no further signs of life were found.
Stedin, the gas grid company, has stated that there is no evidence suggesting the explosion was caused by a gas leak, which had initially been a potential cause of the blast. Police have also ruled out the possibility that a drugs laboratory was involved, narrowing the investigation as they continue to gather evidence. The cause of the explosion remains unclear, and authorities are focused on piecing together the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
