Delta State Divisional Police Officer Killed in Ambush by Suspected Kidnappers
A Divisional Police Officer from the Agbarho police division has been killed by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
This tragic incident was confirmed by Bright Edafe, a spokesman for the Delta State Police Command, who reported that the gunmen also shot the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ororoekpe Division, leaving him injured and in need of hospitalization.
According to Edafe, both the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) were involved in an operation when they were ambushed by the hoodlums.
Additionally,he stated that the police are actively pursuing the assailants and are committed to bringing them to justice.
In a separate incident, a security breach occurred in Onitcha Olona, Aniocha North Local Government Area, where violence erupted after a community member was reportedly beaten to death by an alleged land grabber. This incident sparked outrage among residents, leading to riots and the destruction of property as locals protested the forced takeover of community land.
Police have arrested three individuals in connection with this violent outbreak, and investigations are currently underway to address the unrest and ensure community safety. The situation highlights the growing tensions surrounding land disputes in the area.
